It would save your editor a
good deal of time if you would a few editorial
guidelines which I have set
below:.......Thanks-Editor.
-
Please don't indent
anything--story titles, bylines, paragraphs, etc.
-
Separate paragraphs
with a full empty line. Just as I've done with this
entry.
-
If you know how, do not
use any hard returns, except between paragraphs.
-
Don't attempt to bold,
italicize, or otherwise format unless you do so in a
formatted document such as Word, WordPerfect or rtf,
etc.
-
Use one and only one
space after all periods, commas, and end-of-sentence
punctuation.
-
Commas and periods
always go inside quotation marks. Always. No
exceptions.
-
Capitalize God when
writing about the one God as opposed to one of many
gods.
-
Capitalize Bible when
referring to the book that contains the Old and New
Testaments.
-
Do not italicize FIG
Leaves or the names of other periodicals
Other FIG Leaves standards:
Italicize titles of
books, plays, major musical compositions, movies, genre,
ships, spacecraft, sculpture, foreign words, words used
as words, Plaintiff v. Defendant, and for special
emphasis.
Enclose in quotation marks direct quotations,
clarifications, special use of a word or phrase
"scare quotes" or "apology quotes,"
definitions, and the following titles: series of books,
articles, chapters, essays, short poems, TV and radio
programs, songs, and short musical compositions.
