Belief is Not a Choice

By: Dorothy B. Thompson PHD

Used by Permission
Belief is not a choice that I can make.
No option allows reason to forsake.
Thinking is a habit I can't break.
And, if I am asleep or I'm awake,
I don't decide that in thought I'll partake.
Absurdities stand out like a sore thumb,
The dogma that's dished out in Christendom.
Ant faith is not a thing I overcome-
My brain rejects religion opium.
Reason sifts out all things that are dumb.
Choose or not to choose not my decision.
Nor is belief in god by my volition.
And my disbelief is not omission.
For I was born a mighty fine logician.
A thinking mind not drawn to apparition.
